Old Motorcyles Modifications

Old motor can. However, if maintained, let alone the shape changed into years older than its production, it added motorcycles pretty sight. Well, there are several motor accident lawas from various regions that have been modified classical style. Apparently, lawas motors are pretty sight.

From Bali
I Nyoman Gede Suparwata have high artistic value. Honda C90’s 33-year-old became labored DKW model, the motor of the 1960s from Europe. In fact, said Nang Pucung-Suparwata friendly greeting in the GPS community, this modification is to mix and Zundapp DKW.

View DKW reflected through the tank and lights, while Zundapp looks from the front, starting from sokbreker and sepatbor. In the meantime, keep the engine from Honda, but not C90, but Mega Pro.

One more work of Gede Nyoman Aditya is a 1976 Honda CB100 motorcycle racing tilled into. The work for a long time because of work on their own. “Nearly half a year to be like this,” explained Adit. Interestingly, Adit is a general practitioner.

Although impressed by the simple modifications, many parts of the motor-custom themselves. For example, for not using the handlebars of pins, part of Honda Tiger dicustom. Then, all the body in re-using custom galvanized plate. The tank is picked from the motor which forms lawas has changed.

From Yogyakarta
Rarely have the modifying Binter Merzy, which sold in Indonesia in the 1980s, to change its shape. M Dwi Anto from Yogyakarta try to integrate java’s style and jap’s style without doing a lot of turnover.

Exception, the headlights picked from 90S Honda in 1976 and little-custom. Gas tank was taken from the Yamaha YB 1974 and formed thin. Then, the feet are also custom. For example, per shockbreker wear a Vespa combined with as sokbreker from Honda GL Pro. There are many more. Please refer to.

2010 Aprilia Mana 850

Motorcycling has taken a giant leap into the future with the Mana 850. Aprilia has always been ahead of its time, and often the first to develop technology other manufacturers have preferred to leave on the back burner. But never before has Aprilia’s forward thinking and talented R&D department dared to create such an innovative and revolutionary motorcycle. No ordinary motorcycle, the Mana 850 is destined to change the riding habits of bikers all over the world. Because the Mana 850 is really a number of motorcycles rolled into one, a bike for all seasons, designed to put safety, versatility and easy riding first. The Mana 850 is the bike the others will have to match, the first to turn the technology of tomorrow into the reality of today.

With its exclusive and unmistakably Italian design, the Mana 850 is unique among motorcycles. Its revolutionary Sportgear transmission is electronically controlled to deliver unrivalled riding pleasure. So whatever your riding style, and whatever the road conditions, the Mana 850 is the bike you will want to be on.

The Mana 850 is the state of the art in motorcycle technology. Only Aprilia, with its legendary technical skills, would have dared take on a challenge of this entity. The Aprilia Mana 850 is so advanced and so unique that it simply cannot be compared with any other motorcycle. The Mana takes all the stress from motorcycling while injecting more satisfaction and more fun into riding under all conditions, from commuting to sports touring on the open road. All you need to do to enter a whole new world is press the button on the handlebars.

The transmission management system offers a choice of three “Autodrive” mappings plus a manual, seven speed, sequential gearshift, so you can be absolutely certain to find the perfect ratio for any traffic condition and riding preference. Whether you are just nipping across town or blowing away the cobwebs on a winding country road, the Mana 850 always delivers the ideal response and the same unique riding satisfaction. Whatever the conditions, and whoever the rider (even the most demanding), the Mana guarantees a perfect, peak-efficiency ride that lets you discover hitherto unknown potential. The Mana’s compact, sporty and ecological 90° V twin engine is the perfect partner for this type of transmission. Thanks to electronic fuel injection and a catalytic exhaust the engine falls well within the limits of the latest Euro 3 emission standards. Pace-setting power and torque mean brilliant performance, especially in acceleration. Virtually no other naked can keep up with a Mana as it pulls away from the lights! Yet the Mana is so amazingly easy to ride that blistering performance is well within the reach of any rider. The technology that Aprilia has developed for the Mana 850 is truly ‘rider-friendly’ and amazingly easy to use. The clutch lever has gone, replaced by an electronic control system that leaves you free to relax and enjoy the ride. The sequential gearshift can even be operated by a simply handlebar control as well as by the classic pedal. As with all Aprilias, accurate design of the chassis guarantees top level handling. The Mana 850’s tubular trellis frame gives the bike impressive strength and torsional rigidity, and a single piece aluminium swingarm and advanced suspension delivers road holding to satisfy even the most demanding sports rider. Top quality brakes add to active safety by ensuring impressively short stopping distances.

The following are the characteristics that make the Mana 850 unique:

• 90° V twin engine with four valves per cylinder, Euro 3 homologated
• Sportgear transmission: electronically controlled sequential gearshift offering two shift modes: seven speed manual or Autodrive with three mappings: Touring, Sport, and Rain
• Storage compartment with non-scratch lining, large enough for a full-face helmet, with mobile phone holder, toolkit & document holder, and 12V power socket
• Under-seat fuel tank
• Brakes with radial calipers
• 43 mm upside down fork
• Offset monoshock with spring preload and rebound adjustments
• Steel trellis frame with single piece aluminium swingarm
• Twin spark ignition
• Electronic fuel injection with single throttle body

DESIGN
Aprilia has always believed in utility design, but has developed the concept to its maximum expression on the Mana 850, creating a naked that is more versatile than any other. With its exclusive, unmistakably Italian styling, the Mana 850 embodies the perfect combination of elegance and practicality. As with all Aprilia nakeds, the Mana’s high-tech components make an essential contribution to overall design. The engine, fuel tank, airbox, frame and exhaust system all enhance the character of the Mana 850, creating a personality that stands out from the crowd.

The look of the Mana 850 is also the result of courageous and innovative design choices. The 16 litre tank is located under the seat, lower than normal, to distribute weight more evenly and lower the bike’s centre of gravity. The “traditional” tank location is occupied instead by an illuminated storage compartment that is lined with non-slip, non-scratch material and big enough to house a full face helmet. The compartment also incorporates mobile phone storage and a 12V power socket. The vehicle documents and toolkit are also located inside the same compartment, leaving access to the battery and fuses free. The Mana 850 is the first motorcycle ever to provide fully integrated helmet storage, a unique and immensely practical advantage, especially for urban commuting and short trips. The compartment is opened electrically by a convenient switch on the handlebars. The lid opens under the control of a hydropneumatic damper that prevents accidental opening while the bike is in motion. A manually operated lever under the passenger seat is provided to release the compartment lid in the event of a flat battery.

ENGINE
Aprilia is continuing to blaze the trail that the SL 750 Shiver began, and is manufacturing the Mana 850 engine completely in-house.
There can be no doubt that the Mana 850 engine has opened new horizons in the world of motorcycling, featuring as it does a twin cylinder layout, electronic fuel injection, bags of torque, and above all a revolutionary transmission system that completely replaces the conventional mechanical gearbox and delivers a whole new motorcycling experience even under sport riding conditions.
To develop this amazing new engine, Aprilia has relied on the expertise of the world’s top designers and all the skill of its own R&D department.

Mana 850: the future of the gearbox
The most interesting aspect of the Mana engine is without a doubt its primary drive system, based on an electronically controlled, sequential transmission that offers the rider a choice of control modes.

Riders can choose from two options:

- Sequential mode: The rider decides for himself when to change gear, either using the conventional pedal or a switch on the handlebars. A servo mechanism shifts the main pulley to change between the seven gear ratios amazingly quickly. During deceleration, if the rider omit to change gear manually, the control system intervenes to change down automatically, preventing engine speed from dropping below the set threshold and providing another valuable aid to active safety.

- Fully automatic mode (Autodrive): Sophisticated electronics assume control over everything, and the CVT transmission keeps the engine running at maximum torque speed for optimum pickup and acceleration. The Sportgear transmission offers a choice of three mappings:
Touring: for minimum consumption and maximum usability.
Sport: for top performance with blistering acceleration
Rain: for use on wet or slippery roads

Semi-Autodrive mode allows the rider only to change down independently. This is particularly useful for overtaking at maximum torque revs or for boosting engine braking when riding down a hill. You can switch from Autodrive to Sequential mode and back at any time, irrespective of riding conditions. The handlebar gearshift control can also be disabled from the dashboard. The revolutionary transmission system of the Aprilia Mana 850 in no way reduces the pleasure of motorcycling. If anything, it adds the thrill of lightning fast gear changes and improves the performance of the engine under acceleration and on fast roads. A click of the switch is all that is needed to switch from one mode to the other, from relaxed cruising to exhilarating sports riding. With an engine and transmission like this, the potential of your motorcycle has never been greater. The 90° V engine configuration, chosen for torque and power delivery, is the perfect match for this type of transmission. The engine delivers 76 horsepower at the crank and well in excess of 7 kgm of torque (at 5,000 rpm). Most important of all is an extremely flat power curve that translates into plenty of ready power even at low revs.

These specifications clearly express the performance of this unique motorcycle, which easily beats other nakeds of similar displacement thanks to its amazing acceleration. The four valves per cylinder are operated by a single chain driven overhead camshaft, a solution that combines ease of maintenance with effective performance. As is traditional for Aprilia’s big bike engines, lubrication is provided by a dry sump system, with a separate oil reservoir integrated inside the engine to minimise overall weight. Efficient engine breathing is ensured by a generous size filter box and exhaust system. The electronic engine management system incorporates a sophisticated Weber Marelli electronic fuel injection unit with a single 38 mm throttle body and twin spark ignition. These two technical solutions combine to guarantee optimal combustion at all engine speeds, maximum thermodynamic efficiency, and therefore amazing performance despite low emissions. The Mana’s high performance engine respects the environment too. The stainless steel exhaust incorporates a catalytic converter and a Lambda probe oxygen sensor to bring emissions well within the limits established by Euro 3.

FRAME
The handling of the Aprilia Mana 850 is not just the result of a revolutionary engine but of an advanced chassis too. As with all Aprilia motorcycles, the frame of the Mana 850 has been developed in parallel with the engine to ensure the sort of harmony between engine and chassis that has always distinguished Aprilia motorcycles.

The robust steel tube trellis frame sets new standards for this class of machine and ensures top level handling in line with the characteristics of the innovative engine. The single piece aluminium swingarm is damped by a monoshock that is laterally offset to free up space for the exhaust pipe behind the engine and make the motorcycle more compact. The Mana 850 has a wheelbase of only 1,463 mm, extremely short for a naked, even a sports model.

SUSPENSION
On all Aprilias, the excellence of the chassis is maximised by an ideal suspension configuration and setup. Here too the Mana 850 accepts no compromises. The 43 mm upside down fork slides easily and features an optimised setup for excellent performance even under sport riding conditions. 120 mm of front wheel travel lets you tackle all sorts of road surface. At the rear, the monoshock is operated directly by the swingarm without intermediary linkages, and offers adjustments for spring preload and hydraulic rebound damping. Rear wheel travel is 125 mm.

BRAKES
Impressive stopping power is delivered by the very best braking technology currently available, developed in-house by Aprilia. Radial calipers with 4 pistons are the state of the art for motorcycle brakes and ensure maximum active safety under all braking conditions. The generous front discs are 320 mm in diameter, the standard size for Aprilia’s big bikes, and are complemented by a single 260 mm rear disc

Aprilia to recall RSV4

Aprilia Italy has announced its intent to recall a limited number of RSV4 motorcycles for engine replacement. While only a small number of production units are affected, the recall impacts all RSV4 motorcycles delivered within the U.S. market to-date.

Following extensive testing and verification, the Italian manufacturer assessed that one component in a small group of engines assembled during a specific time period had failed to meet stringent factory quality standards, resulting in an unacceptable risk of future engine failures. To-date, there have been no warranty claims related to this potential issue in the U.S. market. However, in line with the premium quality standards of Aprilia motorcycles and potential safety implications, the manufacturer and its dealerships are committed to immediate action to ensure complete Aprilia owner satisfaction.

To prepare for the recall in the U.S. market, Aprilia USA technical representatives are contacting each RSV4 owner to notify them of the replacement process and timeframe. To expedite the replacement, customers will be able to select from a list of Aprilia dealers who have completed RSV4 technical training. Free transportation of the RSV4 to the dealership will be provided.

Aprilia dealers were notified of the pending recall January 21, 2010. Replacement engines for all units affected are already in transit to the U.S. market and owners are in the process of being contacted. Aprilia USA is expecting to complete the engine replacement on consumer RSV4 motorcycles by the end of February 2010.

Customers with immediate questions or concerns are invited to contact their local Aprilia USA dealer.

Moto: 2010 Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight

The new Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight motorcycle is a factory custom in the legendary tradition of the hot rod Sportster line with the raw, elemental appeal of the Dark Custom™ bikes.

Riding low with a slammed suspension and featuring the classic 2.1-gallon “peanut” fuel tank, the Forty-Eight backs up its bulldog appearance with the performance of its blacked out and polished rubber-mounted Evolution® 1200 cc V-Twin engine. The low solo seat, under-mounted mirrors, side mount license plate, clean rear fender and tall and fat front tire emphasize the Forty Eight’s focus on chiseled customization.

And while the Forty-Eight model may break bad when it comes to radical attitude and straight-on style, it won’t break the bank starting at just $10,499 MSRP in Vivid Black.

“With its classic bulldog shoulders stance, the Forty-Eight strikes a distinctive look and low profile that could only come from Harley-Davidson,” said Ray Drea, Harley-Davidson Senior Director of Styling. “The Forty-Eight model has a collective past life experience and broken-in look that is raw and authentic.”

As a Harley-Davidson Dark Custom motorcycle, the Forty-Eight is ready to ride as a radical custom and also primed to take on its rider’s character and personality. Dark Custom accomplices of the Forty-Eight include the Nightster®, Iron 883™, Cross Bones®, Fat Bob® and Street Bob®. Check out more on Dark Custom motorcycles at www.harley-davidson.com/darkcustom [2].

Harley-Davidson Sportster models like the Forty-Eight have retained an aura of rebellion since their introduction in 1957, when the foundation of custom culture was being formed by hot rod gear heads hanging out on city street corners, in gritty garages or at dusty dragstrips. Sportster motorcycles became an iron canvas for many legendary choppers of that hot rod era and beyond.

Lying low from tire-to-tire, the Forty-Eight model showcases more of its black 1200 Evolution V-Twin engine with polished accents and other components with a clean look highlighted by the traditional peanut fuel tank, small solo seat and lightening holes in the backbone mounting bracket. The Forty-Eight has more than just custom cool styling with the smooth ride on new front fork sliders, a tall and fat front tire and slammed rear suspension.

With Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) and performance tuning with a broad torque curve, the Forty-Eight motorcycle delivers a powerfully responsive ride with smooth clutch effort. The pipes on the chrome, shorty dual exhaust pound out the distinctive Harley-Davidson American V-Twin sound.

The Forty-Eight embraces the street up front with forward foot controls, low profile custom handlebar, under-mounted mirrors, fork-mounted turn signals, slammed speedometer mounting bracket and fork brace with lightening holes. A unique dual texture solo seat with a height of 26 inches fits the lone rider, while a passenger pillion, footpegs and backrest are some of the many accessories that can be added.

The black chopped rear fender with combination stop/turn/tail lights and a side mounted license plate help show-off the 150 mm rear tire and 16-inch Black Steel Laced wheels. The front tire also rides on a wide black wheel.

The Forty-Eight model comes in Vivid Black, Brilliant Silver and Mirage Orange Pearl colors and will be available soon at Harley-Davidson dealers.

Forty-Eight features and highlights:

  • Blacked out rubber-mounted Evolution 1200 cc V-Twin engine with polished covers

Moto: KTM And Mid-Ohio Team Up

Based on the success of the 2009 KTM Race_Orange Track Day Experience, the program was expanded to four events for 2010. The events are unique as KTM preps and provide motorcycles for each participant. Models available include the KTM 1190 RC8 R, 1190 RC8, 990 SMR and 690 Duke. The cost is an exceptional value at $275 which includes use of the KTM motorcycle, fuel, tires and track day fee. It is truly an ‘Arrive and Ride’ event.

The program serves two purposes; not only does it provide an opportunity for riders to get on track without the need to transport their bikes to the facility, but it also gives them a chance to ride the latest lineup of KTM street bikes.

“We are really excited that KTM and The Mid-Ohio School have expanded to four Race_Orange Track Day Experience sessions for 2010. This gives more enthusiasts the opportunity to burn laps on a ‘Ready to Race’ KTM motorcycle at a prestigious race track,” remarked John Hinz, Product Line Manager at KTM North America.

This is a premium event limited to 75 participants and all skill levels are welcome. Riders will be split into three groups riding in multiple 20-minute sessions throughout the day. The first two will be ‘sport’ groups, consisting of novice and intermediate riders and the final ‘super sport’ group will encompass advanced intermediate and expert participants.

“Last year’s KTM Race_Orange Track Day Experience format was a huge success for both KTM and The Mid-Ohio School. The 60 spots available on each date sold out within a week of the announcement, so we wanted to open it up to more riders this year. With room for 75 participants on each of four dates in 2010, this year should provide an even greater opportunity for riders from across the country,” said Steve Bidlack, director of The Mid-Ohio School.

KTM has been the official motorcycle of The Mid-Ohio School since 2008. For more information or to sign up for the KTM Race_Orange Track Day Experience at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, please visit www.midohioschool.com or call 877-793-8667.

KTM, founded in 1953, is the second largest European motorcycle manufacturer specializing in “Ready to Race” street and off-road motorcycles and ATVs. Proven successes in worldwide competition are embodied into the design and function of each KTM race machine. KTM has built a reputation for high-quality premium race ready machines suitable for street and off road race competition and recreation. With more than 160 World Championships and counting, the technology, design and performance of KTM continues to race past the competition time and again.

The Mid-Ohio School provides professional driving and riding instruction to drivers and motorcyclists of all skill levels. The school’s 16 automobile courses include Defensive Driving, High Performance and Racing. The motorcycle side features three Performance Track Riding formats. Students enjoy classroom sessions, skill drills, expert private instruction and lapping on the same track that challenges the world’s top racers. In 17 seasons, The Mid-Ohio School has 34,000 graduates, including 11,400 teenagers.

Like all Aprilia sports motorcycles, the RS 125 has benefited from the sophisticated technology that has been developed over years of success in GP racing, and quickly transferred into production. Over the years, the RS 125 has forged a reputation as the standard setter for sports 125’s. Sales success has come naturally too, with the RS 125 topping the sales tables on all European markets. The RS 125 is the inevitable choice of riders entering Sport Production racing. And rightly so, because when the competition gets tough, there is simply no other bike like the Aprilia RS 125.
